The Role

Net Technical Solutions require an experienced Network Engineer to provide both 2nd/3rd line support on their busy Tier 2 Service Desk.

 Duties:

 Tier 2 Service Desk:

  • Configuration and troubleshooting of Microsoft servers and desktop machines
  • Troubleshooting Firewall and Router issues.
  • Taking ownership of Tier 2 support and priority cases
  • Dealing with escalated cases from Tier 1
  • Telephone, Email and Remote support
  • Assisting Technical Managers and The Service Desk Manager with sensitive and escalated tasks

About you: 

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years commercial experience in a server and/or second line support role ideally in a Managed Service provider. In order to successfully carry out in-depth investigations and reconfiguration of our clients’ systems and undertake new installations, it is essential that you have a solid understanding and demonstrable skills in the following areas:

  • Service Desk Experience
  • DNS, DHCP, File Systems
  • Active Directory
  • Networking diagnostics, TCP/IP, packets, understanding of how a network works
  • VMWARE/HyperV
  • Router, Firewall and VPN Configurations
  • Microsoft Client and Server Operating Systems, specifically:
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 10
  • Server 2012
  • Server 2008/2008R2/ 2012
  • Small Business Server 2008/2012
  • Server 2016

Skills in the following areas will be advantageous:

  • Server 2019
  • Microsoft Exchange/O365
  • Apple products
  • VoIP

Other key strengths required include:  good attention to detail, able to build and maintain customer relations, consistency, interpersonal skills, ability to work unsupervised & under pressure, self-confidence, analysis, numeracy & literacy, prioritisation, a positive, professional & proactive approach.

Qualifications:

Required:            O’ level/GCSE Maths & English

Desired:               MCSA or equivalent or part thereof
